We are currently looking for the following to work in our San
Francisco office:
Network and Storage Administrator
Job Purpose: The Network and Storage Administrator builds
infrastructure solutions to The Orphanage's technology needs in a
variety of areas, including: storage networking, backups, physical
networking, security,and name services.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Work with departmental representatives and other members of
the technology team to address business and technical needs.
· Provide complexity and time estimates for completion of tasks.
· Design, build, deploy and maintain system infrastructure
across multiple hardware and operating system platforms.
· Identify and resolve problems in the production system
quickly and completely.
· Document the systems of the company, and educate others in
their use.
· Continually learn new technologies, applications, and skills.
· Educate other members of the team and company.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
· Minimum of eight (8) years technical experience in network/
system administration.
· BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical
field.
· Experience administrating storage networking, large-scale
storage systems and backup systems across multiple operating systems,
including Windows, Mac OS and Unix.
· Knowledge of and the ability to manage internal network
operations, including, but not limited to, server/client hardware,
bandwidth issues, security, firewalls and overall stability.
· Expereince deploying and supporting Veritas Netbackup.
· Experience with one or more administrative scripting
languages (Perl, Python, Bash, etc.).
· A solid understanding of operating system fundamentals:
paging and swapping, IPC, devices and device drivers, file system
internals.
· Fluency with common network protocols, and their
implementations and management: DNS, NFS, directory services, SSH/SSL
and security protocols. Experience comfiguring and maintaining
Windows Domain Controllers.
· Experience with performance analysis and tuning of operating
systems and networks.
· Significant programming experience in a procedural or
functional language. Ability to debug scripts.
· Some knowledge of 2D & 3D graphics tools, (e.g. After
Effects, 3D Studio Max, Maya, etc.) a plus.
· Excellent face-to-face and written communication skills.
· Proven ability to lead and complete large technical projects.
· Strong sense of technical ownership and quality.
· Strong, scientific troubleshooting & debugging skills. Must
possess sense of technical ownership and quality.
· Some flexibility in work hours. The Technology Team is
committed to working at a sustainable pace, but occasional real
crises do arise. Willingness to participate in on-call rotation.
