POSITION*:                   *Technical Support TD*

*DEPARTMENT*:           *Pipeline*

*Position Summary*

This production-specific position is responsible for assisting VFX 
artists and supervisors with the management of render and disk 
resources.  Technical Support TDs are expected to become intimately 
familiar with the nature of the render and disk requirements unique to 
their production, and to facilitate the management and support of those 
resources.  This position could lead to a Pipeline TD or Digital Artist 
role.  This is an entry level, freelance position.

*Responsibilities *

 * Work with general studio-wide render and disk support teams.
 * Create and maintain render and disk usage estimates and projections 
for the production.
 * Work with production supervisors to understand ongoing render and 
disk resource usage.
 * Manage render priorities.
 * Monitor render tasks for problems and inefficiencies.
 * Debug render problems.
 * Ongoing monitoring of production disk usage.
 * Assisting with regular disk cleanup.
 * Work with Lead Pipeline TDs and assist in general pipeline tasks.
 * Flexibility to work different schedules depending on production.

*Required Skills/Experience*

 * BS or MS in Computer Science or Digital Arts.
 * Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
 * Linux/UNIX proficiency.
 * Excellent problem investigation and resolution skills.
 * Scripting ability (Perl, csh, CGI, etc) is beneficial.
 * Database and SQL experience is a plus.
 * Familiarity with computer graphics concepts and techniques is beneficial.
