Position to fill: Render Wrangler


 


Meteor Studios (www.meteorstudios.com <http://www.meteorstudios.com/> )
is the largest visual effects facility in Montreal with over 100
employees dedicated to the highest level of visual effects and character
animation for film and television. Since it's opening in 2001, Meteor
Studios has participated in the creation of project such as Alien
Planet, Fantastic Four and Final Destination III.

 

Specifications:

 

*	Temporary position
*	Full time


 


The Render Wrangler manages render farm resources while monitoring
100cpus, helps allocate disk space for elements, isolates render errors
and proactively communicates problems back to the respective owner.

 

Tasks:

 

*	Work with Production to prioritize the order of rendering shots
*	Allocate cpus to render jobs with the proper priorities
*	Debug failed frames, scripting errors and link issues
*	Manage the disabled host list; tracking problematic machines
with systems
*	Maintain 100% utilization of render farms, rebooting machines
when necessary
*	Develop ideas for improving existing render tools and
procedure(s)
*	Other duties will include providing assistance with
tape-wrangling, monitor calibration and systems support

 

Requirements:

 

*	D.C.S. in Computer Science
*	Knowledge of Linux preferred
*	Candidate must have the ability to debug technical issues
*	Detail oriented with interest in detecting errors and resolving
problems
*	Must be able to prioritize requests and have effective
communication skills
*	Applicant must have an amiable disposition with a strong
customer support ethic and an ability to handle production pressure well

and a possibly of extended hours of operation.
