*POSITION:          SYSTEMS OPERATOR*
*DEPARTMENT:  Systems Operations*

*_**Various Shifts Available*_**

*7:00am to 4:00pm
10:00am to 7:00pm
4:00pm to 1:00am*

Position Summary: *

A Systems Operator is responsible for the operation of computer 
equipment including various flavors of Linux servers and workstations, 
Macintosh and PC workstations. This position will also operate and 
monitor peripheral equipment, such as tape drives, disk servers, tape 
robot and printers.

*
Responsibilities**:*

    * Assist users with hardware, email, network, peripheral problems
      and troubleshooting.
    * Perform backups and restores; maintain tape library and database;
      update online database.
    * Monitor disk usage.
    *  Assist in writing tools and the maintenance of the operations
      manual and procedures; make recommendations and enhance procedures
      to increase productivity, organization and efficiency.
    * Perform regular maintenance on computer hardware.
    * Monitor the entire studio computer network.
    * Maintain a clean and safe work environment.**

*Required Skills/Experience**:*

    * Understanding of various Linux variants, HTML, Macintosh and PC
      workstations.
    * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    * Willingness and ability to learn quickly.
    * Exceptional organizational skills.
    * Ability to work independently on assigned projects.
    * Conscientious, able to work independently, as well as in a team
      environment.
    * Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
    * 3 years of college or equivalent post-high-school CS education or
      experience.

*Desired Skills/Experience:** *

    * Scripting and programming experience (Perl, c/c++, sh/csh).
    * Familiarity with most basic system administration tools and processes.
    * Experience with Unix software and processes.
    * Familiarity with networked/distributed computing concepts.
    * Database experience (Informix or MySQL preferred).
    * Interest in computer animation and special effects.
    * A degree or certificate in computer science or a related field.**
