Character Modeler 

Few entertainment companies embrace the future of filmmaking more

veterans of George Lucas' Industrial Light + Magic, the company based in Los
Angeles and San Francisco has become a leading force in high-end visual
effects and animation services, motion picture and broadcast production, and
filmmaking technology development and licensing. 

In its brief history, The Orphanage has become internationally recognized
for visual effects innovation and celebrated for elevating filmmaking
technology. 

We are currently looking for a Creature Modeler in our San Francisco office.


Duties: 

- Execute poly modeling, brush sculpting, and detail highres digital doubles
with costume for feature film projects; service and maintain geometry

- Use technical know-how, artistic aptitude and knowledge of animation to
create models that meet quality standards set by the Orphanage and our
feature film clients 
- Work with production team to make sure each model is designed and
developed to project specifications and is performance ready 

 

Qualifications:

- CG experience constructing polygon character models and UV'ing skills

- Experience in creating blend shapes and a familiarity with character
rigging 

- Expertise in organic poly modeling using Maya, Max, etc.

- Expertise in brush sculpting and detailing using ZBrush or Mudbox 

- Good sense of human anatomy and face sculpting

- Basic knowledge of shell scripting tools preferred

- Skill in drawing and sketching desirable

- Feature film experience strongly preferred

- Ability to take direction positively, work well within a team, and thrive
under the pressure of tight deadlines
