  ASSISTANT MANAGER


  Digital Production - Lighting, Texture Painting, FX, Pipeline

 

*Job Summary:*

The Assistant Manager, Digital Production supports the Department 
Manager whose goal is to help R&H produce exciting, high quality visuals 
while maintaining a great work environment for our employees.  The 
Assistant Manager will aid in the day-to-day operations of support and 
production department(s) working with the Department Manager to identify 
and recommend measures to improve performance and increase efficiency. 
The Assistant Manager will also be expected to assist in personnel 
development by contributing and participating in communication, 
leadership, and conflict resolution discussions as well as assist in the 
planning and coordinating of training for new and current employees.  
This role may also provide many opportunities to participate in and/or 
initiate new directions and projects.

Responsibilities:*

*Operations*

·         Assist in making sure productions are supported appropriately.

·         Assist in approving timesheets and evaluating proper use of 
overtime.

·         Assist in keeping track of PTO and sabbatical requests.

·         Attend company, production, and department meetings as a 
representative of the Digital Production Management group (PM), and take 
notes when appropriate.

·         Complete special projects as assigned by management, which may 
include acting as a member on company committees.

*
Personnel*

·         Assist in the screening, interviewing, and hiring of personnel 
that meet the job requirements and fit the company philosophy.  
Occasional travel may be required.

·         Help motivate and inspire employees so that each person does 
their best and contributes to the productivity of the studio.

·         Assist in the assignment of personnel to productions in an 
appropriate and efficient manner that balances the need of the 
production with the needs of the studio.

·         In a timely manner, participate in employee performance 
evaluations and personal develop plan.


*Communication*

·         Assist in providing monthly reports regarding the status of 
the department(s) for PM   and the studio.

·         Maintain open and positive relations with all divisions of the 
company.

·         Assist in improving and maintaining feedback loop between 
productions and employees.

·         Ensure that the company policies and procedures are 
communicated to all department employees and that these policies and 
procedures are adhered to accordingly.


*Leadership, Training and Staff Development*

·         Develop and support a positive, collaborative environment by 
being a positive role model.

·         Assume Department Manager's responsibilities in his/her absence.

·         Help maintain positive employee attitude and morale by 
recognizing outstanding performance and service.

·         Motivate and develop personnel in order to encourage their 
professional development.

·         Work with the Education Department to assure that all 
Department employees have appropriate training.

·         Provide an "open door" policy where employees are free to 
express their concerns and feelings.

*·         *Work with the Department Manager to develop leaders to meet 
department and company objectives.**

Authority:*

·         Able to approve PTO and sabbatical requests.

·         Able to assign office and seating assignments for Department 
employees within the known company guidelines.

Qualifications:*

·         BS or BA degree required.

·         Deep desire to lead, manage, and develop people.

·         Previous experience in the visual effects industry.

·         Ability to give clear directions and set expectations for 
personnel.

·         Excellent organizational skills.

·         Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word proficiency.

·         Filemaker Pro proficiency.

·         Accuracy and attention to detail.

·         Highly effective communication skills.

·         Self-motivated.

·         Able to train and delegate effectively.

·         Ability to problem solve.

·         Ability to work as a member of a team.
