Supervisor for non-sports and sports titles. In addition to creating

PREREQUISITES
Regardless of the level, an EA TA/CG Supervisor is expected to act as a
liaison between the Artists and the Engineers
Candidates in this role should be pro-active problem solvers who
demonstrate a strong sense of creativity and respect for aesthetics
Candidates may possess an art, design, mathematics, engineering or
science background, however, they must demonstrate a comfort level in
working with both ?art and science?
Must be willing to work under and take creative direction from an Art
Director
If coming from outside the game industry, will be expected to
learn/understand how game-play and architecture issues can affect
content creation and successfully develop workflows to compensate for
such limitations on artistic content
REQUIREMENTS
Experience on a minimum of 6-8 complete titles/productions that have
shipped, experience with either character driven titles or feature film
are highly desirable
Work in production team in various stages of modeling, texturing and
lighting at an expert level
Rig skeletons for typical game characters that are animator friendly
Clearly communicate difficult technical concepts to laypeople
Experienced working with skeletal and deformation systems
Excellent aptitude for problem solving CG issues; demonstrates an
ability to think creatively to resolve technical challenges and
limitations investigate and advise
History of working through problems until effective solutions are found
and implemented
Experienced working with multiple CG systems and architectures on at
least 3 successful films/games
UNDERSTANDING
Excellent knowledge of: compression, computer/game hardware, particle
systems, character skeletons, image manipulation tools, command line
systems, inverse and forward kinematics, shader systems, 2 or more 3D
packages, motion capture systems and ability to work with motion capture
data
Very strong knowledge of the following Real Time systems: Rendering,
Dynamics, AI, EA APIs, FTP
Basic understanding of all major 3D packages
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises TA team/CGS on a large project/franchise
For either a section or complete small to mid-size title, responsible
for ensuring that adequate pre-production is complete and testing of new
concepts/techniques is complete prior to production of title
Based upon specifications from Project Art team, makes determination as
to what tools are appropriate for specific tasks and supervises
implementation of those tools
Designs/develops efficient solutions for CG workflow to fit the needs of
a production problem
Working with appropriate programming staff, makes determinations as to
what can be done using the game engine and other software?s at hand, and
if not what it would require to realize the request
Writes appropriate portions of MDD, works with Sr. CGS Staff and tools
groups to ensure that all CG pipeline requirements are in place or can
be developed in a timely fashion; Reviews TDD?s
Writes easy to understand documentation and/or tutorials for any part of
the CG pipeline as necessary
As necessary binds/physiques/weights a character model to a basic
character skeleton
As necessary builds intermediate to complex level character rigs that
can withstand a complete production cycle and remain Animator friendly
Works with artists on team to teach them how to use CG tools and
processes most efficiently

Expected to learn client management skills
Conducts reviews of CGS/TA team with Art Production Managers and/or
Development Directors
Works to keep junior TA staff effective, focused and motivated for the
duration of a project/game
