We are currently seeking an experienced Lighting Supervisor to lead our 
lighting team on all game titles produced in our studio.

PREREQUISITES:
Demonstrated ability to
Work without direct supervision
Competently and efficiently complete complex tasks in a timely basis
Preemptively find solutions to challenging issues within their craft
Troubleshoot & resolve issues within specialty/overall game.
Candidates for lighting positions must demonstrate an ability to think 
in 3D
A portfolio demonstrating a very high level of proficiency that reveals:
A strong artistic background (focusing on lighting)
Good use of light & shadow
Breadth of artistic styles
Excellent sense of depth
Excellent craftsmanship & professional quality finish product

REQUIREMENTS:
Experience as a key contributor or senior craftsperson, a minimum of 6-8 
complete titles or productions that have shipped; experience with either 
key franchises or feature film are highly desirable.

Demonstrates an excellent understanding of pre-production (as related to 
the gaming industry)
Excellent organization & presentation skills
Expert level understanding of the many aspects of game production, & how 
those areas affect the final animation product
Demonstrated history of:
Playing a key leadership role on projects
Supervising teams of Lighters on time delivery of successful projects
Innovation & consistent drive to raise standards within the lighting 
craft, playing a key role in successful, on-time projects

Mentoring artists within their studio
Working with Senior & Executive management across a studio to raise the 
quality of products
Of developing highly creative & efficient solutions to complex problems 
through production without affecting integrity of corporate & brand 
identities

Expert ability to light all types of characters & environments within 
major production or title

UNDERSTANDING:
Demonstrates an expert understanding of the following in real time 
environments:
Light & shadow
Form & depth
Scale
Layout
Motion
Fundamentals of visual language
Demonstrates a strong understanding of
Advanced lighting techniques
Different CG lighting systems
Experience with at least 2 major 3D CG packages.
High-level understanding of different aspects of game production & how 
they affect the final product
An excellent understanding of pace & storytelling & how they apply to 
developing game assets

Responsibilities:
 From a craft perspective, supervises Lighters across a studio and EA 
world however necessary during production
Works with Studio Exec to drive & manage visual issues within a studio
Proactively researches & develops new techniques for lighting & adapts 
to the R/T environment
Reviews all Media Design Documents & Technical Design Documents for 
lighting issues; advises respective Lead programmers, ECP, & Studio Exec 
of any foreseeable issues or concerns. Makes recommendations where 
appropriate

Maintains a level of communication with other Lighters & development 
teams throughout EA
Attends industry events & stays abreast of new technologies & trends 
within CG Animation industry
Within a studio or production group, is ultimately responsible for:
Proactively working to eliminate problems in the production cycle 
(ideally before they occur)
Ensuring that lighting is thorough & complete
Testing of new concepts or techniques is complete prior to production of 
title
Reviewing & providing feedback on lighting documentation
Other duties & responsibilities as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL:
Adds value to franchises or a studio by using craft to raise overall 
visual value & quality of game play experience
Proactively mentors junior Lighter staff; actively helps to establish & 
spread culture within their studio
Adds value to franchises or a studio by using craft to raise overall 
visual value & quality of game play experience
Conducts reviews of Sr. Lighters with Art Production Managers &/or 
Development Directors

Assists with recruiting of Art staff
Completes all work in a timely manner & drives team to meet key dates

Expected to learn client management skills
Supports other Lighter Supervisors across the World of EA
Works to keep junior art staff effective, focused & motivated for the 
duration of a project or game
Conducts reviews of Lighters with Art Production Managers &/or 
Development Directors; Provides career counseling an direction for 
Animation Staff
